Road Traffic Incident Closes Seal Sands Road

Seal Sands 21 November 2007

A chemical tanker was involved in an incident on Seal Sands Road leading to attendance of all three emergency services.

At approximately 11 o'clock on Wednesday 21st November 2007 a tanker was involved in an incident on Seal Sands Road ending up on its side after crashing through a fence.  The Emergency Services were quickly on the scene mobilising specialist equipment to deal with this type of incident the road being closed for several hours whilst an investigation was carried out and recovery experts were brought in.  Once the tanker was determined to be empty the specialist equipment for dealing with a chemical spillage was not required. Recovery teams righted the vehicle and removed it for inspection enabling the road to be reopened as soon as was safely possible.  There were no serious injuries as a result of the incident which involved the single vehicle and there was no spillage of chemicals.
