Cleveland EPU at the Middlesbrough Mela 2008
Albert Park 20th July 2008
Last year, while melas around the country were being cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, Middlesbrough fought hard to make the event happen. This year for the first time the Middlesbrough Mela went 'Mega' with two days of entertainment, fabulous food and fantastic fun for all the family to enjoy.
On Saturday the 19th July the day was dedicated to sports, health & fitness and overall well being. In addition there was entertainment and sumptuously healthy food for all. Everything went well despite the sudden torrential downpour in the afternoon.
On Sunday the 20th July was the full Middlesbrough Mela with main stage entertainment, fairground rides, delicious food stalls throughout the park and the Global Village. The Cleveland EPU display stand held a good position in the centre of the park near the fountain promoting the working of the unit and the arrangements that are in place come a major incident. Stuart and Claire worked hard during the day which was mostly sunny with a relaxed atmosphere amongst the 28,000+ crowd.
The unit's display stands can be seen again at the Stockton Summer Show on the 23rd August.
