Partial Building Collapse in Middlesbrough 11/07/06
During demolition of the former Odeon Cinema and latterly Jumpin Jaks Nightclub, part of the building collapsed onto Fry Street close to the Thistle Hotel. Nobody was injured in the collapse which left scaffolding hanging over the street in a precarious position. The area was sealed off closing the east end of Corporation Road causing some traffic problems. The remaining building will be inspected by the local authority however for safety reasons the area remains closed to the public until the building can be made safe. The HSE is investigating the incident.
